Food and Identity “We Are What We Eat” Penn Museum Tour

Food and Identity “We Are What We Eat” Penn Museum Tour In-Person

What is the real meaning of the phrase “we are what we eat? Who is the “we” in this statement, what is eaten, and how was this food made? Join us for a Global Food Tour at the Penn Museum, a 75-minute tour that incites all the senses and attempts to answer these questions. The tour will highlight objects from across Museum galleries and explore food and food production, economics, religion and spirituality, class, gender, and community. Learning about food culture helps us understand our identities in the past, present, and future. Join us to discover how!

Galleries May Include (subject to availability): Middle East Galleries, Native American Voices Gallery, Africa Galleries, Asia Galleries, Egypt Galleries, Greece Gallery

Participants will receive a $10 off coupon for any item $10 or more at the Penn Museum store.

We will meet at the Penn Museum 3260 South street in the East Entrance, which is around the east side of the building facing the parking garage. If you walk East on South Street toward the bridge you pass the two courtyards on your right and then turn right, pass some parking and it’ll be on the right.
