Syllabus Design in the Humanities Today

Syllabus Design in the Humanities Today In-Person

Facilitator: Dr. Karen Redrobe, Cinema and Media Studies
Convener: Rhea Swain, CETLI Graduate Fellow, History of Art

This workshop will explore syllabus design strategies and methods for humanities undergraduate courses in today’s evolving academic environment. Professor Redrobe has taught a variety of courses across Cinema and Media Studies, the History of Art, and English, and will guide graduate instructors in reverse engineering effective syllabi. Topics of discussion will include building classroom community, engaging diverse materials as course content, managing the breadth and depth of reading and assignment loads, and cultivating clear policies related to AI use, technology, and on-campus resources.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the History of Art department, and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
