Great Buildings: Penn’s Architectural Masterpieces Walking Tour + Ice Cream Social! In-Person
Join Bill Whitaker, Curator of the Architectural Archives, as he leads us on a tour of the architectural masterworks on Penn's campus. This tour will focus on the buildings and landscape created for Penn over its 150+ years in West Philadelphia and touch on the larger context of cultural, technological, and historical change from 1872, when the first students were welcomed into College Hall, to today. Sites visited will include the Penn Museum, the Fisher Fine Arts Library, College Hall, the Quad, and the many interesting stops in between.
The tour will last approximately 90 minutes. Following the tour, there will be an optional ice cream social hosted at the Grad Center in room 304.
This event is for current graduate and professional students only. All attendees must have a valid PennCard.
This tour will meet on the first floor of the Graduate Student Center, located at 3615 Locust Walk, and depart promptly from there. Please be sure to check the weather before arriving for this event. In the event of rain, thunderstorms, excessive heat, or extreme weather, tours will be canceled. We encourage you to wear appropriate clothing and check weather forecasts in advance.
