Together We Do This!

With graduation on the horizon, there is much to celebrate, honor, and recognize. ALL (registered) Family Center members are invited to join the final Playdate of the semester, which will be full of celebratory festivities!

Whether you are a graduating student parent, a pre-school child getting ready for Kindergarten in the Fall, or a family member who has been supportive and holding it down along the way, your commitment is understated and we see you. The Family Center is open and welcoming YOU to visit on Saturday afternoon, April 27, in celebration of friendship, community, and achievements. The Family Center will be open for an afternoon of joy! A mix of refreshments will be provided throughout the time. Families are also welcome to enjoy special activities like painting, arts & crafts, play-doh, and a graduation-themed photo prop station.

In recognition of graduation, a special Celebration Circle will be held for graduating student parents (3rd floor of the Graduate Student Center). Facilitated by Restorative Practices at Penn, graduating student parents can join the Celebration Circle to help process the transitions and individualized meaning behind graduation.

Before the Family Center closes for the day, families will be asked to gather for Testimonials, in which family members and students can offer praise and short stories from their journey at Penn this past year.

1 PM – Arrival & Welcome

1:15 PM – “Celebration Circle”, led by Restorative Practices at Penn (for graduating student parents). The Circle will be held on the 3rd floor and begins promptly at 1:30 PM and is expected to conclude by 2:30 PM.

1:15 - 2:45 PM – Crafts, activities, and Graduation-themed photo props

3 PM – “Testimonials”, led by Family Center Staff, will be an opportunity for all attendees to gather, honor stories of achievement from family members, and witness moments of thanks. Family members can “pass the mic” to express gratitude and recognitions for their family in honor of the shared journey.

3:30 PM – Close of Celebration (the Family Center will close by 4 PM)

Registration is required. Graduating student parents should email familycenter@upenn.edu with any specific inquiries regarding the Celebration Circle.

A variety of refreshments will be provided throughout the event, though families are also welcome to bring food.

This Celebratory Playdate is open to registered members of the Family Center and is sponsored by the Family Center, Restorative Practices at Penn, the Graduate Student Center, and GAPSA.

There is a front and side building entrance, both with a device for Penn Card swipe-access as well as touch screen doorbells. The Family Center can be found when you come down the stairwell, or select “B” in the elevator.
